Drinking water and sanitation

The aim of this project is to improve the sanitation and hygiene situation as well as the drinking water supply in 36 project communities. Around 32,000 community members are to gain access to clean, affordable water and sanitary facilities. To this end, we are building 20 new water supply points in the communities and renovating or replacing 16 further water access points in schools, communities and health stations. In the project communities we promote an understanding of the links between hygiene, sanitation and disease prevention; 300 community members take part in training courses for this purpose. We also promote the construction of locally adapted sanitary facilities. At 36 project schools, around 12,000 children benefit from new toilets and washrooms.
